What is an industrial oven used for?

Industrial ovens are used for drying, curing, baking, annealing, powder coating, and heat treatment. Common industries include automotive, aerospace, electronics, defence, and textiles — anywhere consistent, controlled heating at scale is part of the production process. 

Industrial ovens typically operate up to 450°C and are used for drying, curing, and coating processes. Furnaces go higher — often above 800°C — for hardening, sintering, and metal heat treatment. If your process needs temperatures above 500°C, a furnace is the right equipment.

Most industrial ovens operate between 50°C and 450°C. This covers drying, curing, ageing, and standard heat treatment. Processes needing higher temperatures typically require an industrial furnace instead. 

A properly maintained industrial oven lasts 15 to 20 years. Heating elements and door seals need periodic replacement. The chamber structure and insulation last considerably longer when operated within rated capacity. 

Over-temperature protection, thermal cutouts, door interlocks, exhaust ventilation for fume extraction, earthing of all electrical components, and emergency stop are the key safety requirements. These should be standard on any properly built industrial oven — not optional extras.

A walk-in oven has a chamber large enough for a person to enter — used when the products being processed are too large or too heavy to be loaded on trays or trolleys through a standard door. Common applications include large fabrications, automotive components, and transformer coil drying.
